So I had a friend introduce www.spinningbabies.com to me tonite. It is a concept I had not ever heard of – but how awesome I have found it to be.
Since I have only 5 weeks to go with this pregnancy, labor, baby, belly – those are just some of the words on the forefront of my mind – and this website really caught my attention!!
So the idea behind SPINNING BABIES is that depending on how a mom sits, or moves she can actually move the baby to the ideal labor position. No one want to give birth to a baby whos head is facing a funky direction, or if the baby is turned around – giving the mom major back labor. This site helps you identify what position your baby is in and the tone of the uternus – and how to sit and manuever your body to get that baby in the ideal position – thus promoting a less painful birth process.
So check THIS WEBSITE out – I am loving what I have learned so far!!
Fantastic!
I just went to the site again & noticed it has been upgraded as well. Fascinating, isn’t it??
This can be considered as awesome concept for all the ladies such that they are having of good experience for the birth of the children. And that would be nice.
I did spinning babies religiously for months for my posterior positioned baby to no avail! He never turned or dropped into my hips and after days of labour and fetal distress I had a c-section. I do not have an android or small hip/pelvis. I’m wondering if some of the reason the spinning babies exercises did not work for me was my weak core? I developed diastasis very early in pregnancy (first noted coning or tenting at 16 weeks) most likely due to all the crunches, weight lifting, pilates and jack knifes I used to do. Anyway I’m curious to see if you have any thoughts on this…also I did got to a PT while pregnant and we tried and tried but she could not get me to actually engage my tranverse (at least in a manner that she could see) while pregnant – I wonder if this weakness added to it too. I wish I had heard of tranverse muscles 10 or so years ago when I started my aggressive “core” (now I know it was only a rectus) routine!
Mag,
After reviewing the spinning babies material and the notes they have on the muscles, it seems it definitely could have a been a contributing factor! The “tenting” or “coning” you mentioned IS DEFINTLEY a diastasis – that is how it appears during pregnancy. PTs not licensed in the Tupler Technique do not often how the specialized knowledge to work the transverse completely or to bring the diastasis together. My sister is a PT who studied with Julie Tupler and has had to “reteach” many PTs about the transverse, not doing crunches, how to bring the diatasis together. It is hard to find information still for many. But for you its definitely not too late to bring it back together. There is no statute of limitations – I have worked with several women even in their 60s (a couple in their 70s) to TOTALLY CORRECT their diastasis!
